Nick and Esther: First Kiss

And Anime is back to update more on Esther! As many of you may already know, Nick recently dined with TVB general manager Mr. Chan in the popular talk show Be My Guest. Amongst the "must talk" topics is of course how Nick and Esther get along, and how they became a couple. Nick shares a little secret with Stephen, he speaks about the couple's first kiss in Canada, which started everything. English translation also available below.

News Buzz: Esther Returns

Hey everybody, those of you who've visited TVB Index may have
noticed my return. Yes, I'm back! And of course I'll be continuing to
update my fellow Esther fans with the latest Esther news =D

First of all, HERE are the pics of Esther and Nick from the HK Film Awards I promised. Esther looks elegant and beautiful as always.

Now, as many of you have heard, yes, Esther will be filming a new 25 episode TVB series with Roger Kwok, Michelle Yim, and Lawrence Ng Wai-Kwok. I heard about this previous "rumor" several days ago, and was just as excited as each one of you! I wanted to wait until it's made official and not give false hope. This morning I went out, got the magazine, and here I am, providing the "proof" =)

This is the long awaited Esther-Roger TVB collaboration, it's been 10+ years since they worked together at TVB.

News Buzz: Long Time Friends Gather At Beast Stalker Premiere

I haven't seen such a "grand" get together since Ada's wedding.
Especially happy to see Bobby sit next to Esther :D

Best Selling Secrets, sitcom overview

Year 2007 marks the arrival of a new sitcom, the return of Esther Kwan, and the start of something that would eventually be loved. Starring Esther, Best Selling Secrets was a sitcom that undertook high expectations from the very start. After leaving TVB for seven long years, clearly all the attention and focus were set on TVB Best Actress Esther Kwan. And of course Esther did not disappoint the audience. Esther plays Wong Ka Nam, daughter-in-law to Tai Chi master Ng Hang (Elaine Jin), mother to Xing’s trainee photographer Luk Jit (Vin Choi), long time friend and crush of Yin's Group's CEO Vincent Yin Wai-Shun (Geoffrey Wong), and new rival of advertising company Xing's CEO Diana Man On-Na (Elvina Kong).

In the past nineteen years, Nam has been on bad terms with Hang. Hang blames Nam for not being a good mother to Jit, thus Hang doesn’t let Jit know that Nam is in fact his mother. With the help of Vincent, Nam becomes Jit's superior, and the mother and son start working together at Xing. Nam is constantly guilty for not being there for Jit, thus she hopes to make it up to him by treating him extremely well. Not knowing the truth, Jit once thought Nam had a crush on him. Misunderstandings soon cleared up and Nam was able to rebuild her relationship with Hang and Jit by moving in to live with the two. Being able to fix her relationship with her family, Nam has Vincent to thank. Vincent has secretly loved Ka Nam for nineteen years, but has kept his love to himself because she was the wife of his best friend, Luk Kin. Even after Kin passed away Vincent still dared not confess his feelings for Nam, afraid that it might ruin their friendship, and also because Nam only has Kin in her heart. Vincent chose to stand by Nam and be a silent protector. Nam eventually finds out about the crush, but insists that they remain friends because she refuses to let anyone in her heart. Nam believes that no one can take Kin's place in her heart. Only after going head to head with Kin’s suspected lover Lai Poon Yu-Yuk (Louisa So) and meeting with psychiatrist Chan Chi Yin (Sunny Chan) did Ka Nam realize that Vincent was in her heart all along. She learned that losing her loved one doesn’t mean her love world has come to an end. In fact, it should teach her how to love properly in the future. Kin will never disappear in Nam's heart, but it is really time to move on, sealing Kin in that special place in her heart and set her eyes towards the future. Nam learns to cherish her relationship with Vincent and let her feelings lead the way, taking over her always conscience mind. The two eventually gets married and expecting a baby girl.

As the sitcom progressed, the main focus was no longer only set on Esther. More familiar names regained the audience’s liking. More familiar faces were finally being recognized. The sitcom gained success because it has certain aspects that manage to capture the audiences’ attention and manages to touch the audience’s heart. Hilarious plot allowed the audience to relax after a long day of school or a stressful day at work, while intense plot keeps the audience glued to the television screen.

As time passed, the audience eventually watched the sitcom on a daily basis; watching it became a habit and a must-do. The characters were eventually humanized because we can always find someone we know that resembles certain aspects of certain characters. Best Selling Secrets was no longer politics based; the working environment of the office was no longer isolated. The audience became a part of Xing’s bunch. As we watch the evolution of each character, we ourselves are also changing. Just how much of our daily lives are we missing out on? Are we taking too much for granted? What exactly are we searching for in life?

Diana and assistant Kau Chun (Tsui Wing) has worked together for over ten years. In this past decade she has never considered him to be anything more to her but a useless follower. His contributions to her always went unnoticed. She knew he was loyal to her, she knew he liked her, but she didn’t think she needed anyone by her side. Everything changed when Chun left her to work for Vincent, only then did she realize his importance. Only after the two had parted did Diana begin to see Chun’s true potential, only then did she realize that her feelings for Chun had long evolved into love. Even though the two were eventually able to get together, Chun knows that they’re at two different social levels. Chun painfully leaves Diana in hopes to one day return, providing her with the best in the world. His hard efforts paid off and he returns as Tony Ko, CEO of Mag Castle, a hotel empire. The two walk off hand-in-hand as they excitedly greet the next phase in their lives, marriage.

David Mo Kei-Yung (Stephen Au) was Xing’s senior administrative assistant. He never had much ambition in his life, at least not after his ex-wife (Queenie Chan) dumped him after making all his money hers. Yung admired Wong Ka Nam and once wanted to court her because he thought she was interested in him. Yung backed off once he discovered that everything Nam did was for her son Jit, she had no interest in starting a new relationship after her husband passed away. Yung’s true destined one was actually Diana’s competitor and sister Queenie Man Shing-Kwan (Florence Kwok). From encounter to endless quarrels, the two had developed a little something for each other and eventually confronted their true feelings. However, Queenie is still an ambitious woman who hungers for more power and social standard. She accepted childhood friend, Vincent’s older brother, Yin Wai Pun (Timothy Cheng)’s love, knowing that she can use him to gain power. Saddened by Queenie’s two timing attitude, Yung leaves Hong Kong to start a new career with Kau Chun. Before Yung's departure, Pun reveals that Queenie's one and only love was Yung. Yung still decides to leave Hong Kong to persue his career. However, within two weeks Yung returns. The two eventually weds and becomes parents to two adorable children.

After graduating from high school, Jit negotiated with grandmother Hang to let him work at Xing for a period of time before starting university life. He meets Maymay Yuen Mei-Yiu (Jeanette Leung) and the two quickly become lovers. Kawaii Ho Tung-Tung (Yoyo Chen), who also likes Jit, is sadden when she discovers that her best friend Maymay and her crush Jit are now a couple. She sadly leaves the company to study photography with a famous Japanese photographer. She returns shortly after Jit and Maymay breakup, she is hired as Xing's photographer and works with Jit at Xing again. Upon her return, Jit discovers a completely different Kawaii, a mature and evolved Kawaii. He began to see the other side of Kawaii which he failed to see before. Jit started to like Kawaii, so he confronted her and the two finally became a couple. As their relationship progressed, their feelings of love towards each other slowly subsided. They realized this when Jit and his new colleague Dai Ngan Loi (Aimee Chan)’s friendship got a little too complicated to explain. The three eventually becomes good friends; they realize that it was best for the three of them to stay that way.

The character Doris (Rachel Kan) originally had limited screen time, she was arranged to be Vincent’s secretary at Yin’s Group. As the sitcom progressed, she eventually became Nam’s and Diana’s secretary respectively. Don't be fooled by her workaholic personality, after suffering from marital failure, she has lost faith in all men. She spends all her time devoted to her work, wanting to become an independent woman who relies on herself. Everything changed when Maymay’s brother Yuen Man Cheung (Wayne Lai) and Hang’s then boyfriend Tin Joi Shan (Bill Shek) opened a canteen to serve the workers of Yin’s Group and Xing. At first Doris and Cheung hated each other, but the two eventually became close friends when they started to realize that they shared similar experiences. Their friendship blossomed into love and they became an inseparable pair.

Receptionist Lily Lau Ting-Ying (Mikako Leung), Gary Lee Man-Kei (Jim Tang), Marco Lau Ka-Wor (Raymond Chiu), Michelle Tam Yuk-Ying (Janice Shum), Candy Chung Oi-Ting (Summer Joe), Ann Tse Yan-Yan (Helena Wong) all once worked for Xing. They eventually left Xing to persue their desired career. Over this past year, the group slowly gained popularity amongst the audience as each one of them was featured in certain episodes of the sitcom.

Best Selling Secrets was original and creative; it has brought much laughter to the audience in the past year. However, it seemed to completely turn downhill after Esther’s departure. The only thing to look forward to was the progression in the relationships between Diana and Kau Chun, Doris and Cheung, along with Yung and Queenie. However, the above pairings' screen time was also quite limited. In the sitcom’s last two months, the scriptwriters turned it into quite a horrifying "thing". The usually thoughtful and considerate Nam suddenly proposed to Vincent. Even though I'm a Vincent-Nam fan, this still seems a bit strange. Nam proposing? Well, I guess this is the best we're given. Hang broke up with Shan with rapid speed, claiming that their feelings for each other suddenly changed. Vincent’s father, Yin Ying Ming (Chan Hung Lit) quickly became Hang’s love interest even though she had no feelings for him not long ago when he confessed to her. Ming is then unexpectedly sucked into a possible lawsuit, wasting three precious episodes that could be used to explain other relationships in the sitcom. Pun entered into the relationship between Queenie and Yung only during the last week of the sitcom, kissed Queenie in one episode and broke up with her in the next, after discovering that her true love is Yung. Chun and Yung left their loved ones to go work elsewhere in one episode, while two years had already passed by in the next episode. The finale turned into something completely unwatchable. Xing creative director Wai Yat (Brian Burrell) and wife Ming Leung (Angela Tong), along with Vincent and Ka Nam are expecting their first baby [I guess that's a good thing]. Yung and Queenie are parents to two babies. Everyone except Yat left the company, Nam’s evil brother Wong Kwok Lap (Samson Yeung) suddenly turned good, Chun became the CEO of a famous hotel empire, he and Diana got back together and married two minutes before the sitcom ended. Everything is rushed and became quite unrealistic. Even though the sitcom finishes with a happy ending, I must say it’s quite a messed up happy ending. Nevertheless, at least it's a happy one.

Best Selling Secrets has indeed created many wonderful memories and will be remembered in our generation as an enjoyable piece of work. Many of the storylines were extremely well written, and probably could have been even better if Ka Nam's character wasn't arranged to leave the sitcom. Of all the relationships, my all-time favorite has to be the Vincent-Ka Nam love chase, followed by the adorable yet tempting Diana-Kau Chun love. Over these past 300+ episodes I've obtained and found a lot: my previous love for Esther Kwan, re-introduction of Elvina Kong, Stephen Au, and Tsui Wing, addiction to the ending sub "Only Once" even after listening to it for over one year, I'm still in love with the song. Even though university life is stressful, Anime hopes to seek a balance between work, homework and the world of TVB. Anime anticipates the new sitcom starring the cast of Best Selling Secrets and awaits that Esther will one day return to TVB.

Best Selling Secrets Finale - Epi 364 - The Happy Ending

Time passed by fast, it has been two years since Jit (Vin Choi Kei-Chun) left Hong Kong. Today is a special day, most past and present Xing colleagues all gather at Yin's canteen. Jit realizes that even though everyone has changed quite a bit, their friendship remains the same. Vincent (Geoffrey Wong Chi-Hung) brings everyone happy news, Ka Nam (Esther Kwan Wing-Ho) is pregnant.

Pun (Timothy Cheng Chi-Shing) originally planned to negotiate a collaboration with a world class enterprise, but discovered that Joe & Jim, which recently had been accquired by Dai Kam (Lo Lok Lam), is already in negotiation with the enterprise. Even though Kam blocked out all of the information regarding this collaboration, Diana (Elvina Kong Yan-Yin) still tries her best to find out more about the enterprise, if hopes to defeat Kam. Diana found out that the project controller is an asian named Tony Ko. While Diana arrives at a hotel to purchase the controller's favorite egg tarts she discovered that the controller himself is residing in that very hotel. It's revealed that the CEO, Tony Ko, is in fact Kau Chun (Tsui Wing). More good news arrive just when everyone celebrates Kau Chun's success, the enterprise's chairman plans to give away his whole business to Kau Chun. In the press conference annocing the hotel's partnership with Yin's, Chi Cheung (Lau Kong) tells Diana that before the conference ended, Kau Chun had asked him for his consent in proposing to her. Kau Chun finally met Cheung's expectations, gaining Cheung's long awaited permit. Blessed by family and friends, Diana and Kau Chun enter another phase in their lives - marriage.

言氏會議室喜氣洋洋，原來為信在荷蘭順利完成工作外，更成功與當地政府洽商新計劃令言氏獲利。當英明準備好大肆慶祝之際，為信的助理竟向眾人說出為信並沒有回港。為信藉視像向眾人解釋，原來在上機前，他收到了家嵐的電話；家嵐說她在意大利小鎮中看見一所教堂，更說想與為信在那裡結婚。因此為信決定放下 CEO 的職務，直接飛往意大利迎娶家嵐。

Yin's conference room is enlightened with happy atmosphere, it's because Vincent managed to negotiate a new partnership with the Holland government. Just when Ming prepares to celebrate this occasion, Vincent assistant tells everyone that Vincent did not return to Hong Kong. Vincent explains the whole situation in a webcam conversation. Vincent received a phone call from Ka Nam before boarding the plane, Ka Nam told Vincent about a church in a small town in Italy. Ka Nam tells Vincent she wants to get married there, thus Vincent put aside his CEO duties and flew over for the wedding right away.

Thanks to Aeris @ TVB Reflections for making the beautiful header. I started working on the new layout once Aeris sent me the header, hope everybody likes the new look.

Best viewed in Firefox, as with most layouts, there always seems to be a difference in how it appear on various browsers.

TVB sitcom Best Selling Secrets will air its last episode on August 7th. Yesterday, the cast gathered at the church to film the ending, where they witnessed the marriage of Elvina Kong Yan-Yin and Tsui Wing. Vin Choi Kei-Chun and Yoyo Chen Chi-Yiu acted as the best man and the maid of honor. Elaine Jin Yan-Ling, Aimee Chan Yan-Mei are amongst the attendants. The sitcom originally starred Esther Kwan Wing-Ho, Elvina Kong and Elaine Jin as the three leads, thus Esther's absence does add slight imperfection to the ending.

ESTHER DENIES PREGNANCY

Esther's assistant explained that because Esther damaged her tendons, she needs to rest and is unable to join the cast for the finale. Her assistant emphasizes that she is not pregnant, but rather enjoying her holiday with her family.

When asked to comment about the imperfection without Esther, Elvina says, "It's a pity she can't join the finale, but I wouldn't call it an imperfection because the scriptwriters have already arranged her character to marry Geoffrey Wong Chi-Hung's character somewhere else." Elvina did not inform husband Jackson about the kiss with Tsui Wing, claiming that she knows her limits and extent. Elvina loves her role as Diana very much, claiming that she loves the character more than herself, thus she went and made herself an "I Love Diana" cap.

Elaine claims that Esther's departure from the sitcom influenced her a lot because the two had many scenes together. She had hoped that Esther would return, Elaine says "I really don't know why she won't return for the ending, overall it was great working with everybody."

TVB executive Catherine Tsang Lai-Chun was present at the finale filming also, when asked to comment on Francis Ng Chun-Yu's remark about filming TVB series is based on "relationships" with the executives, she replies, "People think too much, it's all about ability. We've used Francis in the past, there is no need to worry much."

Catherine Tsang also announced that all of the BSS cast will return for the new sitcom in September.

* If you ask Anime, I'd say health and family are more important. Esther needs her rest and her fans should understand her. Elaine really needs to get her facts straight. If the scriptwriters really arranged Ka Nam and Vincent to get married, then I guess that counts as the "satisfactory" ending Esther promised in her interview. Even though it is sad that we can't see Ka Nam 's return, I wish Esther all the best with Nick and Brittany.

**New sitcom length rumored to be 260 episodes, not the originally planned 100 episodes. The exact number, we shall see in September.

***Side note, why is Vin and Yoyo the best man and maid of honor? Wouldn't Stephen Au Kam-Tong, Rachel Kan Mo-Wah, or even Diana's competitive sister Florence Kwok Siu-Wan be better candidates?

無铫處境劇《同事三分親》將於8月7日播出最後一集，昨日全劇演員拍攝大結局，講述江欣燕與徐榮有情人終成眷屬，蔡淇俊及陳自瑤等出任伴郎伴娘外，金燕玲及陳茵媺等人到教堂觀禮。可是此劇原本由關詠荷、江欣燕及金燕玲三人為主，但關詠荷早已辭演，令這集大結局未能圓滿。

關詠荷否認懷孕辭演

關詠荷昨日透過助手回覆，解釋最近扭傷筋骨關係，所以才辭演休養，並強調不是懷有身孕，現在享受假期之中。

江欣燕說：「是有些可惜，但不會不圓滿的，劇情有交代她與黃子雄在外地結婚。」江欣燕指今次與徐榮拍咀戲無通知丈夫，自言好有節制。江欣燕表示十分捨不得《同事》完結，只因她很愛Diana一角，她更笑說愛Diana多於自己，更製作了一頂印有「I Love Diana」的帽。

金燕玲稱關詠荷辭演對她影響很大，因為二人有很多對手戲，唯有希望對方快些重回崗位。金燕玲更說：「結尾也不見人真的不知原因，大致上人人合作都開心。」

製作部總監曾勵珍昨日親臨監場。談到吳鎮宇大爆無铫拍劇是靠關係，曾勵珍否認說：「大家想多了，始終講實力的，以前也常用吳鎮宇，不需要顧慮太多。」

曾勵珍公布好消息，指《同》劇所有演員會演出下齣處境劇。

Best Selling Secrets Episode 273- Always By Your Side

Ming (Chan Hung Lit) angered two of Yin's business partners while having lunch with Chang (Lau Kong). The next day Chang told Vincent (Geoffrey Wong Chi-Hung) that those two business partners plan to sell their shares of Yin's, but refused to sell them to Ming. Vincent tells Chang that recent rumors suspect Kam (Law Lok Lam), Ming's biggest rival, has interest in purchasing large shares of Yin's. During the meeting Ming asked Vincent which projects he plans to announce at Yin's press conference, Vincent said the main focus would be the environmental friendly "Flame Wheel". Ming disaprove the idea, he wants Vincent to focus on going against Kam's projects. Vincent receives a call from well known businessman Mr. Yee, Mr.Yee expresses interest in the "Flame Wheel". Vincent regains his confidence and believes that his decision is the right one. However, shortly before the press con, Mr. Yee tells Vincent that he will sell his whole comapny to Kam. Ming calls a meeting the day after, Ming wants to reorganize the entire company. His plan is to sell Xing and the "Flame Wheel" company, Vincent is angry at Ming for making such a decision. Vincent hopes that talking with Diana (Alvina Kong Yan-Yin) and Philip (Lawrence Yan Chi-Keung) would make him better, but both failed to understand him. This makes Vincent miss Ka Nam (Esther Kwan Wing-Ho) even more. Vincent decides to send her an email. At this time, Chun (Tsui Wing) delievers something to Vincent from Ka Nam...

Anime: I was so excited when a saw Esther's name credited in the cast list down at the bottom...does this mean that we're going to see Esther in this episode? Kind of worried though because in one of the captions it said "Vincent and Ming finally settled their disagreement with Nam's help from afar". Hope it's not only Ka Nam's name that gets mentioned...keeping my fingers crossed here :)

TVB’s Forever Best Actress – ☆ Esther Kwan Wing Ho ☆

Although our childhood memories may contain the shadow of Esther’s calm and coolness during her time at aTV, her most glamorous era was her time at TVB. There are many different types of actors. One unique type can support an entire series just solely with the character she develops. She is the only reason you would want to watch the series for, you not need to care about the plot or any other factors. It is just her, everything is because of her; this is real achievement and success. There aren’t many actress that can meet the above criteria, Esther Kwan is one of the few. These past years Esther have traveled from aTV to TVB and carried onto the mainland. Even during the peak of her career, she has always remained very low profile. One day, when you suddenly remember her, she is already someone’s wife and mother of a two year old.

Esther’s first job was an office clerk. A friend invited her to film a series of videos, so she can make some money and experience something new at the same time. Esther had her doubts; she grew up in a very restricted family. Esther never thought she would be a star. She finally agreed upon discovering that the videos were to be released overseas only, Hong Kong viewers would never get a chance to see them. Her first role was to act as a pregnant woman who wanted to seek vengeance. The plot was lame; filming took place in a dirty, rusty old factory building. It’s hard to imagine what Esther was like back then, but that was in fact her first role. She once wanted to give up and leave the entertainment business, but in end she took the chance and signed her first contract. Even though the quality of the video was poor, Esther still cannot wait to watch her own performance after the post-production. The first step of becoming a successful actress started from way back then.

Her friend later joined aTV and continued to offer Esther different opportunities. Esther started to film short mini series for aTV; she thought nobody would notice her out of the large cast and crew. She never expected the feedback to be that great; everybody praised her for her performance. aTV decided to sign a long contract with her, but she refused. She always treated acting as her part-time job; she never thought this would be she lifetime career. It was the same friend who persuaded her, her friend said, “What is so memorable about your past? You have nothing to lose. Being an actress is not to act for other people, but it’s to give yourself a chance.” Months later, Esther officially signed with aTV.

When Esther first joined aTV, she was the most ordinary girl you could find, she only wanted to act, that’s why she signed with aTV. She remained very ordinary for a while; she did not care about her outer appearance. She only wanted to act. Because of her outer appearance, the press has continuously called her the “out-dated” one. When filming “The Burning Rain”, the series that caused great disturbance to TVB, her outfit were always the worst of the entire cast. She purposely made herself extremely untidy so she would play a more realistic vagrant, nobody recognized her when she was filming on the bus because of that. In contrast, everyone avoided her. This is dedication that most “so called” actress lack. Esther did not know any shortcuts to fame, she only focuses on her acting and hope to win the audience’s applause with her own effort. She eventually became aTV’s top actress. People started to notice this ordinary girl, Esther filmed one series after another. In 1992, Esther’s contract with aTV ended, she realized that there were alternate paths. She chose to enter the movie industry. She signed with a movie company and decided to find new opportunities.

Only after signing her new company did she realize most of the scripts offered to her were pornographic based. Hong Kong porn films were very popular during those years. Many of the newcomers wanted to be famous and chose to accept the film. Unlike those people, our traditional Esther cannot accept such matter.

Esther was once rebellious, during her secondary school year she once skipped class to go shopping with friends. However, that very same night, she confessed to her father, knowing she was wrong. Esther is also very selective when it comes to scripts. She chose her films carefully. For a long period, she just sat at home doing nothing. Another problem arose not long after, her company was in crisis and was forced to close. That was one of the low points in her life. When she was most depressed, TVB noticed Esther and signed her to be a part of the big family. Her most glamorous years were about to come.

Entering TVB was probably Esther’s best decision. To this day, nobody ever found out how TVB was able to have such precise insight. She gained her “fame” at aTV, but that “fame” was nothing compared to the attention she received during her time at TVB. Her outer appearance gave people the “tragic" feeling, everyone thought she was most suitable for filming melancholic series. TVB went against all logic and decided to cast Esther in “Mutual Affection”, a light comedy. Esther brought the character to life and gained rapid popularity. Undoubtedly, Esther was a natural when it comes to comedy. This was not the first time Esther tried a comedy, during her aTV years, she filmed “Love Is Like Oxygen”, a rather light comedy, but aTV was not able to unleash Esther’s true hidden potential. TVB brought the “real” Esther to life. Year 1997’s “Lady Flower Fist” was indeed the series that caused Esther’s career to skyrocket. All because of these series, Esther got voted as “Most Popular Actress” in almost every single newspaper, television station award presentations. Esther became the ultimate television queen of Hong Kong. She was crown the title “female housewife killer”. Usually “housewives” only favor particular male actors, but Esther was the exception. “Housewives” fell in love with this serious, yet extremely “cute” woman. Every one of her series was a success. The name Kwan Wing Ho had created a special effect, whenever her name appears in any series, that series is a definite must watch. Her collaborations with “Armed Reaction” co-star and fellow “housewife killer” Bobby AuYeung Chun-Wah sent her career to the top of the peak. The sensitive and crazy Ngor from Armed Reaction was voted as the only female character in the “Top 10 Most Wanted Lover” contest. The sequel, “Armed Reaction II”, earned itself the number two spot in TVB’s highest rated series in these past eleven years. Jessica Hsuan Suen once made such a comment during an interview, “It takes a century for one Esther Kwan to be created.” What Jessica means is that even though there are many actress in the business, there are few that matches up to Esther’s charisma. TVB made the best of her. There is no one that matches her charm ever since Esther left TVB.

Whenever the name Esther Kwan is mentioned, another name appears alongside it: Nick Cheung Ka-Fai. Nick Cheung, Esther’s boyfriend of ten years, now husband and father of her their dear daughter Brittany. The two met at the most “unique” time, she was aTV’s rising star while Nick was aTV’s unnoticeable supporting star. Esther was quite the rumor queen; Felix Wong Yat-Wah and Carlo Chin Ka-Lok were two of her rumored boyfriends. One time when Nick fell off a horse and injured himself during filming, Esther rushed to see him. Nick then became her only “rumored” boyfriend ever since. Even though both were aTV’s artist, the two did not get much chance to work with each other. Their real collaboration had only been in “Hong Kong Criminal Archives: Eight Drug Dealers” and “Spirit of the Dragon”. Year 1993, the cast and crew of “Spirit” flew over to Canada for some filming. It was then when Nick discovered the true and cute side of Esther. Upon returning to Hong Kong, he started to pursue her.

Esther is a stubborn head, she once said, “I’m very unpretentious and simple, if I start dating, I would want to marry that person.” When Esther accepted Nick, she knew this would be a lifetime matter. Arguments are unavoidable between couples. After the two had a major quarrel in 1996, Nick suddenly disappeared. In turned out Nick’s uncle had some business in South Africa and required his assistance. Nick used this good opportunity to relax and clear his mind. He left for eight months; he completely separated from Esther during that time. He just left Esther without any notice. After eight months, the two met each other at the hospital. Nick’s sister was diagnosed with cancer, Esther knew Nick was away and so she offered help to his sister and visited her whenever time permitted. There was no explanation, no apologies, the two naturally got back together. Nick is actually a very caring man, even though the two had disagreements during the filming of “The Legendary Four Aces”, upon returning home, Nick would still cook for Esther. When Esther’s friends come for a visit, Nick would always be the chauffeur, so that Esther can have more time to chat with her friends. The two finally got married in 2003 at Sydney. Not long after, Esther revealed that she was pregnant. At the age of forty-one, and when Nick is suffering from Mediterranean Anaemia, the two still relentlessly gave birth to daughter Brittany. Esther is someone who will not stop until everything is perfect, her goal is to have two to four children. That is her definition of a complete family.

News Buzz: Esther Leaves Best Selling Secrets

Yes, it's been confirmed. Esther will indeed be leaving Best Selling Secrets. She has finished filming all of her parts, her last appearance on TV will probably be mid-March. Wong Ka Nam will be leaving for a holiday, and that's how they plan to end it there :( It appears that Esther wants to spend more time with Brittany and want to make preparations for a new baby. Esther and Nick had always wanted another child. Even though the producer promised Best Selling Secrets will still be up to standards and remain "high" quality, we all know this will not be true with Esther's absence...The producer obviously underestimated Esther's influence to BSS. BSS will NEVER be the same without Esther! Nevertheless, I respect Esther's decision and wish her the best. I just hope scriptwriters find a GOOD way to explain Ka Nam's absence and write a REASONABLY SATISFACTORY ending for Ka Nam and Vincent...

Chun tells Yung that the model was actually interested in Vincent (Geoffrey Wong Chi-Hung). Phillip bought two tickets to a famous pianist's recital for Vincent, he tells Vincent to bring Ka Nam (Esther Kwan Wing-Ho) along. A recent magazine caught Vincent dating a long hair woman, the people of Xing all gather to discuss the identity of this mysterious woman. Vincent is angry at the magazine for reporting the untrue, Nam comforts him. Vincent suggests that they make their relationship public to avoid further rumors. Nam wants everything to be low profile, Vincent respects her decision. Lau Wah (Wong Cho Lam) uses his brilliant computer skills to analysis the identity of the mysterious woman, it was either Nam or the model. Yung and colleagues refuse to believe Nam and Vincent are couples. Phillip appears and makes a bet with Yung, the loser must treat the winner to dinner. Everyone is curious who Vincent will bring to the recital. Yung thinks he will surely win since Chun told him earlier that the model was interested in Vincent. Vincent finds out about the bet, he asks Jit (Vin Choi Kei-Chun) to inform Nam that both the paparazzi and the people from Xing will appear at the recital. Vincent wants to let Nam decide whether she wants to attend or not. On the day of the recital Vincent and the model both appeared, just when Yung thinks he has won, Nam appears and takes Vincent's hand. Two shareholders of Yin's Group arrive early to attend a presentation by Nam (Esther Kwan Wing-Ho) and Jit (Vin Choi Kei-Chun). Ying Ming (Chan Hung Lit) orders Chun (Tsui Wing) to prevent Nam and Jit from attending the meeting. Chun manages to prevent Nam from attending the presentation, but Nam and Jit bumps into Ming and the two shareholders in the elevator. The shareholders makes fun of Ming, Nam and Jit during the elevator ride, making all three of them embarrassed. Vincent (Geoffrey Wong Chi-Hung) asks why Nam didn't attend the meeting, Chun tells Vincent it's all Ming's order. It turns out that Ming had made fun of the shareholders' daughter-in-laws before, Ming knows the shareholders seek revenge and purposely arrange for Nam and Jit's absence. Ming later had a Chinese chess game with two men at the park, the men managed to lure Ming back to their house. The men were actually kidnappers, they called Vincent but Nam picked up the phone. The kidnappers wanted two million dollars, Nam asks the kidnappers not to hurt Ming. Nam, Vincent, and Pun (Timothy Cheng Tse-Sing) decide to call the police after discussing, Nam brought the money to the kidnappers and request that they take her hostage instead...

Vincent tells Nam that Pun (Timothy Cheng Tse-Sing) suggests that Ming undergo an artery bypass surgery, he hopes Nam can convince Ming. On the other hand, Ming asks his Feng-Shui friend Tin (Yu Tse-Ming) about Nam and Vincent, he learns from Tin that although the two are perfectly meant for each other, their relationship will end if they don't get married by this year. Ming insists that the two get married before he have his surgery. Reporters asks Ming about the rumored marriage, Ming tells them that he already prepared a mansion for Vincent and Nam. A magazine dug up all they can regarding Nam's past, about how she's a widow and has a eighteen year old son. Nam tries to act like she doesn't care about recent reports, but deep inside she cares about it very much. Diana (Alvina Kong Yan-Yin) dislike the fact that Nam gets all the attention lately and is quite upset. Vincent (Geoffrey Wong Chi-Hung) finds out that the treasures Lap (Samson Yeung Ying-Wai) rented were fake. Vincent used five million US dollars to rent the real treasures and cover up for Lap. Lap continuously thank Vincent after the incident, however, in the washroom Lap use to tone of a brother-in-law to criticize him. Vincent gets angry and tells Lap to work harder and do what he's suppose to do. Diana (Alvina Kong Yan-Yin) asks Vincent why he helped Lap, Vincent tells Diana it's all because of Nam (Esther Kwan Wing-Ho). Diana blames Ka Nam for turning Vincent into a foolish CEO. Vincent invites Nam out for a movie, but Diana goes to find Nam just when Nam was about to leave. Diana tells Nam all about the incident. Vincent has made all kinds of changes because of Nam, he has lost the "true" Vincent. Nam was surrounded by reporters upon leaving the company, she hurt her leg and asked Jit (Vin Choi Kei-Chun) to cancel her date with Vincent. The next day, one of the reporters Nam used to work with was blocked by the security guards, it turns out to be Vincent's order. Nam is upset and angry with Vincent, she's afraid that Vincent will lose his true self and sense of judgment if this continues...

Vincent tells Yuk that he will do anything for Nam, Yuk then insist Vincent eat a vagrant's lunchbox. Vincent swallows the whole lunchbox, his action totally shocked Yuk. Yuk asks Vincent what makes Nam so attractive, why does she make every men around her relentlessly care for her. Vincent says there is no reason, it's all because the person is Nam. Nam tells Vincent that her mother used to make sweet pastry to celebrate. Vincent wants to make this birthday special because it's their first time celebrating together as a couple. Nam wants to have dinner with Jit (Vin Choi Kei-Chun) and Hang (Elaine Jin Yan-Ling) on her birthday, but both rejected the offer not remember what special day it was. Nam had to meet up with a client on her birthday, Nam tells Vincent she'll celebrate with him after meeting with the client. Jit suddenly remembers that it's Nam's birthday and ask his colleagues for help. Everyone starts to prepare a birthday surprise for Nam, the group set out to purchase gifts and arrange different activities. Jit rushes to the restaurant in attempt to stop Nam from leaving. Nam's client could not make it to the restaurant so Vincent rushes over to have dinner with Nam. Hang and Jit arrives at the restaurant and discovers that Nam and Vincent are dating and having a good time. Hang asks Jit not to tell anyone about the secret, but Jit tell Hang that the colleagues are arriving at the restaurant as they speak. Hang makes a call to Ying Ming (Chan Hung Lit), Ming forces the group to stay behind, stating that they can't leave before 12:00. Hang thanks Ming for his help. Lap (Samson Yeung Ying-Wai) calls Nam to wish her a happy birthday, but hears Vincent's voice instead. Vincent presents some sweet pastry to Nam, Nam is really happy and touched.

Vincent asks Nam when can he pay a visit to Hang (Elaine Jin Yan-Ling) as her boyfriend, Nam tells Vincent she's ready anytime. Lap (Samson Yeung Ying-Wai) tells Ming that Vincent and Nam are dating, Ming is surprised. Hang (Elaine Jin Yan-Ling) tells Jit (Vin Choi Kei-Chun) that Ming won't accept Nam because he's old fashion and would not accept Nam because she is a widow. Nam overhears their conversation and is worried. Nam's new client is unsatisfied with Nam's proposal, Ming openly scolds Nam, Vincent defends Nam. 為信收到嵐從日本寄回來的明信片,而嵐亦邀信食飯答謝他的幫忙,此時嵐看見信的桌上,放著她從日本寄給他的信,遂將信取回,怎料被國立看到,指她擅自偷取文件,表示要報警,為信回來,指信件是他給嵐的. 嵐向信表示,信件是自己在日本一時衝動下寫的,卻感到不是時候給他看,著為信不要追問,為信尊重家嵐的意願,沒有追問信件的內容.

原來這封信的內容是家嵐在為信替她照顧哲後寫的,家嵐表示對為信多年來的照顧,感動不已. 家嵐將信件給伍恆看,著伍恆鬧醒自己,伍恆卻突然痛哭,勸家嵐放低陸堅,珍惜身邊人. 家嵐欲邀為信看電影,卻苦無機會,怎料二人卻在電影院相遇.

Best Selling Secrets 210 - The Letter Never Received

Nam (Esther Kwan Wing-Ho) and Jit (Vin Choi Kei-Chun) talk about Kin, Nam mentioned that both she and Vincent (Geoffrey Wong Chi-Hung) were interested in a movie; unfortunately Kin wasn't interested. Hang (Elaine Jin Yan-Ling) called while Nam was on trip at Japan, telling Nam that Jit is feeling extremely ill. Nam calls Vincent for help. Vincent receives a letter sent from Nam in Japan. Nam invites Vincent out to dinner and sees the letter on Vincent's desk, Nam takes the unopened letter back. Nam was caught by her brother Lap (Samson Yeung Ying-Wai) and accused of stealing from Vincent. Vincent dismissed the issue. At dinner Nam revealed to Vincent that the letter was written when she was extremely emotional, she asked to take back the letter because she felt that it's not yet time for Vincent to read the letter. Vincent respects Nam's decision.

It turns out that the letter was written after Nam asked Vincent to take care of Jit. In the letter Nam told Vincent how grateful and touched she was for all the care Vincent provided her these past years. Nam showed the letter to Hang, hoping that Hang will talk some sense into her. Nam and Hang ended up crying together. Hang remind Nam to cherish those around her. Later Nam wanted to invite Vincent out for movies, but didn't get the chance. However, the two met in the theater...
